As Israel continues its genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, the event will create space for learning about the history of the left in Palestine and for discussing the U.S. left’s relationship with Palestinian liberation more broadly. The event will begin with a brief presentation on the Palestinian left by anthropologist and activist Paul Kohlbry before being opened up to a Q&A and general discussion.
Paul Kohlbry is an anthropologist whose research and teaching centers questions of peasant agriculture, property law, land privatization, anti-colonialism, and agrarian transformation in Palestine. Having recently written on the ongoing genocide in Gaza, he is currently revising a book manuscript that tells the story of land struggle and property ownership in the central highlands of Palestine. He has also worked with the Stop the Wall Campaign and the Land Defense Coalition in the West Bank.
