M. Asli Dukan has been making speculative films about fugitive characters resisting the status quo and struggling for liberated spaces since the early 2000s. At this event she will talk about her filmmaking practice, her influences, her liberatory manifesto and her future projects. Watch her latest film, Sundown Road, a historical horror film about the residue of racial discrimination, intimidation and violence in the U.S. All guests receive a mini-zine!

M. Asli Dukan is a writer, producer, director, and editor with over 20 years of professional experience in independent film and video production in the U.S. and internationally. She has written, produced, and directed dozens of short fiction films, short documentaries, and music videos. Her films have screened at numerous festivals in North America including Imagenation in New York, BlackStar in Philadelphia, Langston Hughes in Seattle, and T.O. Webfest in Toronto, Canada.

Gabe Castro (they/them) is a Philadelphia-based Latine multi-media professional specializing in the horror genre. They work at Philadelphia's public access TV station as the Member Programming Manager helping their community make people-powered media. They are also the producer and co-host of the horror media analysis podcast, Ghouls Next Door. The Ghouls explore how society and culture influence our cinematic fears.
