In his new history of the war on terror, Homeland, n+1 writer Richard Beck shows how this globe-spanning conflict fueled a series of crises—including militarism, racism, economic stagnation, and a political culture of impunity—that are still unfolding today.

Richard Beck is a writer for n+1 and the author of We Believe the Children: A Moral Panic in the 1980s. He grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and lives in New York City.

Malcolm Harris is the author of Palo Alto: A History of California, Capitalism, and the World and other books. His book What's Left is forthcoming in April. He moved back to Philly last week.
