Join us for a conversation with Richard Beck, author of the new book Homeland: The War on Terror in American Life.

More than two decades after September 11, and three years on from America's withdrawal from Afghanistan, the war on terror continues to reverberate through every aspect of American life. In his new history of the war on terror, Homeland, n+1 writer Richard Beck shows how this globe-spanning conflict fueled a series of crises—including militarism, racism, economic stagnation, and a political culture of impunity—that are still unfolding today.

Richard Beck is a writer for n+1 and the author of We Believe the Children: A Moral Panic in the 1980s. He grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs and lives in New York City.

Malcolm Harris is the author of Palo Alto: A History of California, Capitalism, and the World and other books. His book What's Left is forthcoming in April. He moved back to Philly last week.
